Certificate IV in Education Support

Course Overview: Certificate IV in Education Support will equip you with the skills and knowledge, that is required to work in the development process of children, in between the age of 0-12 years. It also allows you to learn and apply the common understanding of minor age development, and offers some fantastic career opportunities.

Certificate IV in Education Support
  • Duration: 36 Weeks
  • Funding: This quali­fication is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible candidates.
  • Course fee: Tuition fees- $5,530.00 ($0 for eligible Skills First Funding applicants)
  • Prerequisite: There is no formal prerequisite for this course.
  • Entry Requirements –
  • Age at commencement: It is recommended that students have attained the age of 18 by the course commencement date.
  • Education/core skills:  Students must complete a Pre-Training Review, meet the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skill standards for Certificate III level study and demonstrate that they are a suitable candidate for this course. 
  • Special Needs: We welcomes people with disabilities to apply. Approval will be subject to the person being able to undertake all tasks and requirements of the course.

  • Regulatory: Evidence of Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required. All participants require a Unique Student Identification (USI) number. If you do not have a USI number you can apply for online https://www.usi.gov.au/students. 

  • Work-placement: 100 hours in regulated care services

     

  • Career Opportunities: Upon the completion of course, you could find opportunities to work as a:

    • Education Assistant (special needs, language/literacy, cultural support)
    • School Age Care Assistant Educator (vacation care, OSHC, Kindergarten)

    • SSO or School Support Officer
    • Education Support Worker
    • Learning Support Officer or Classroom Assistant
  • Work Placement Support: Work-placement Officers will facilitate the work placement for students into an education environment.
  • It is a requirement that students obtain the following prior to commencing practical placement.
  • Working with Children Check (minimum level required ‘voluntary’ which is at no cost)
